A Falling Stone

Your stone
Caused all these ripples
Of ever expanding waves of joy
Washing up on the shore of my soul

Your voice
Echoes warm and true
Filling me with resounding wonder
Amidst the emptiness of my existence

Your soul
In a certain light
I am sure I see it shining bright
It is like you, a beautiful thing to behold

Locked Doors and Lost Loves

Sometimes you close a door
And everything changes
Your heart stays young
Whilst everything else ages
Love can set you free
But at times it cages
For you I could unlock
For you I could be ageless

I took this picture on a recent holiday. This sad and unloved door stood amidst a row of perfectly presented houses. It oozed character and begged for its tale to be unlocked, but perhaps some secrets are best left to the imagination…

Journey on… Bright lights and bad blood

My tale is sad
He said my blood is bad
I longed to prove him wrong

My past was dark
But that darkness it was never mine
Wrong place, wrong time

Swimming for the light
Running those dreams down
Even when others give you doubt

Journey on
Travel wide
Reach for blue skies

Love is a strange language

In chloroform dreams
My heart aches beautifully
It’s the essence of you I need

In constrained words
I write to you often
But barren are my seeds

In metaphors and semaphore
I speak my strange language
I swear, you used to understand

I am twisted by loves blade
Caught and tortured
By uncontrollable demand

She is embedded deep
And though I ache
I don’t weep, I am not sure I can

Heart Shaped Sin

A heart
A small space
With a large perspective

Fickle or true
It is all that defines us
Everything for me, will always be you

This heart shaped sin
I am the boy on a string
Is it me or is it him

So I have finally found enough time to gather a collection of words together and format them in such a fashion that they might be called an Ebook. ‘Heart Shaped Sin’ is available at nearly all major online retailers including, Apple IBooks, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and SmashWords. (Where you can pick up a copy that is Kindle compatible).
There are plenty of examples of the kind of thing that I write on my blog so if you fancy a read of twenty five poems of dark love and bright hope then take a peak beyond the barriers of a very small payment.  🙂

Christmas Kisses

You looked good in that blue dress
It reminded me of Christmas kisses
And shared wishes
That somehow got lost for us

Your smile takes me back
Miles and years
To a time
When you washed away my fears

All those perfect moments
I keep them in my heart
You were a new kind of happiness
A new start on a healing path

I miss the tangle of your tresses
And that pillow talk smile
That fearless kindness
The light you shone on me for a while

The brightest light of any love
But I was so scared
Of the shadows that I cast
I was still chained by things I hid in the past

I had been a shadow before
For way too long
It was nothing you did wrong
My belief was so thin
That shadows just weren’t my thing

But you were…
A wisdom that came too late
A seed that took too long to germinate
A lost friend, a cruel fate

Winter Love

If you need…

I can be your winter love
You can reach for me
Whenever you are dark
I will hold you close

When the green of summer
Turns to falling leaves
When no one understands your needs
I could help you grieve

I know everything about falling apart
It means I can put it back together
If you find you ever
Need such things

When the rain falls
We can all shine like new
I live and linger
For moments such as these

They blot out all the times
I have fallen and been left to bleed
Maybe happiness
Is not the flower of my seed

But I still live and breath
I still love and hope
I still laugh,
And joke

Though dark rivers
May roll me out to sea
I will always wash up
On the beaches of your need

If you need…

Stolen Smiles

Does it make me a bad person
Because it hurts
That someone else gave you back
The smile
I never wanted to take away

Sleepless in suburbia

4am and I am pounding the streets again,
Young at heart, old of soul,
Knife wounds and bullet holes,
This body sings its own stories,
The cold morning mist echoes with pain,

Do you have to be dying,
To bargain with the dead,
I keep talking to the bones,
But they haven’t answered yet,
I have faced it down, did I pass the test?

Rabbit Holes

Sometimes I find myself
Falling through the cracks
Plunging down those old familiar rabbit holes
Plumbing my own despair
Finding places where I barely need to breath let alone care

Sometimes when I am lost in the dark
The echo of your voice
It still finds me there
And your sweet memory draws me home
My love unknown
